Graduate Educational

I currently hold a Master's Degree in Childhood Education from Pace University's Graduate School of Education, where I graduated early in 2011. During my first semester, I wrote, illustrated and published a multi-lingual children's book, called Bilingual Barnyard. Then, due to my success and professionalism as a Student Teacher in grades 2 and 5, I was made Student Teacher Representative for the NCATE Review Board's formal review process. My active participation in and out of the classroom was again recognized when I was initiated into and made Vice President of the Psi Eta chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, a national educational honors society. I continued to take on leadership roles throughout my graduate career, helping to organize professional development seminars and integrate educational technology. One of the most exciting projects involved becoming the "guinea pig" for the country's newest, most innovative teaching training systems, TeachME. After graduating, during formal commencement in 2012, I was honored with Academic Distinction and was presented with the 2012 Rita G. Silverman Spirit of Pace SOE award. Additionally, I was named the recipient of the 2012 Henry Birnbaum Endowed Scholastic Achievement Award, marking the first time an educator at Pace University had been nominated, let alone winner of this prestigious, University-wide award.

Undergraduate Education

Prior to attending graduate school in New York City, I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Magazine Journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, where I graduated with honors in 2008. During my undergraduate studies, I specialized in Graphic Design and French language, and participated in a number of extra-curricular clubs and activities, including synchronized swimming, Fashion Associates and Campus Crusades for Christ. I was also an active member of the Tau Alpha chapter of Chi Omega, the nation's largest women's social fraternity. One of my proudest accomplishments as a co-ed was the creation and success of POISEfashion, an official University media organization and the first online magazine to hit campus before online media and social networking was a household term. As founder and Editor in Chief, I worked with a staff of 100+ pre-professional students to create the must-have source for fashion, entertainment, art and hot topics, both on campus and around the world. In addition to this position, I worked as the Assistant Editor of the University Communications and Marketing Department, and was also a tutor for the University's Academic Advancement Center. As a third year, I traveled abroad to study at L'Universite D'Avignon, in Provence, later receiving a French Language Proficiency certificate for my academic excellence and success.

High School Education

Graduating within the Top Ten Percent of the 2004 Woodmore Local High School class, my high school career was devoted to academics and extracurricular activities. Some of my most successful college-prep and elective courses included Honors & A.P English, advanced French, and an advanced Independent Study in Art. As Editor of both Window to Woomore, the school's student-run newspaper, and Reflections, the middle and high school yearbook, I also excelled in Media Studies. Further, when digital and broadcast journalism was developed through a program called InFocus, I jumped at the chance to participate and became a member of the team. Additional memberships in student organizations included National Honors Society, French Club (President), Future Teachers of America (Historian), Key Club (Class Representative), STAND, and Pep Club. Varsity athletics were also part of my high school portfolio, including two years of cheerleading and a football statistician. In 2003, I was nominated to represent Woodmore at Buckeye Girl's State, where I took on a number of leadership roles and responsibilities. In addition to these school-based commitments, I dedicated myself to competitive cheerleading and also dancing with the Toledo Ballet.
